How to choose China trucks?

We have been working in China trucks export for more than 15 years. Sometimes we met with some customers with question like: how to choose a suitable truck. This article will try to give some suggestions.

1- Truck brands: 

As we all know, now there is SINOTRUK, SHACMAN, FAW, FOTON, Dongfeng, SAIC HONGYAN, BEIBEN, CAMC, DAYUN, XCMG, C&C, SANY, etc for options. Customer will get confused like: which brand is the best one? 

From our point view, there is no best truck brands. For instance, if we check the export data, SINOTRUK is the No. 1  in the market with more than 30, 000 units exported in year 2020. Does it mean SINOTRUK is the best truck brand? Negative. If you check the domestic data, you will see that actually the top 1 truck brand in China is FAW. 

In year 2020, Chinese markets share more than 1.62 million units heavey duty trucks (truck GVW more than 15T), while FAW shares 23.2% of it (0.3769 million units). FAW is the No. 1 market share in China. FAW owns such a good reputation here in China. It relys on the quality and after sales service here in China. FAW even has helicopter rescue for the truck drivers after accident. They consider more about the owners or drivers than other factories. Let's view back the export date,  and you will see that FAW owns only around 10, 000 units, which is only around 1/4 of SINOTRUK export. So now we can see how important of the after sales service and the sales strategy. 

2- Heart of Trucks

In Dec. 28 of 2020, WEICHAI announced that they finished production and sale of the No. 1, 000, 000 units WEICHAI engine in 2020. There is no doubt that WEICHAI engine is the No. 1 in China.  

Founded in 1946, Weichai has over 90,000 employees worldwide. With the annual revenue of more than 260 billion RMB in 2019, Weichai ranks the 83th among China’s top 500 enterprises, the 23th among China’s top 500 manufacturing enterprises, and the 2nd among China’s machinery industry top 100 enterprises. 

Espite the reliable quality, Weichai also focus on the service overseas. Now in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, almost you can find Weichai sevice center in every country. Parts supply is also sufficient. 

So now lets get a conclusion. If you want to choose a good truck, we suggest you:

1- Choose state owned truck manufactuer: FAW, SINOTRUK, SHACMAN, BEIBEN, HONGYAN, FOTON.

2- Choose Weichai engine: Now almost all factories above equip with Weichai engine. If you are from Latin America, CUMMINS engine is also a nice choice (SHACMAN, FOTON, DONGFENG, FAW).

3- Check with your local parts wholesaler and see which brand parts is easily found there.
